Things to do this weekend?

Hi,

I'm thinking of visiting Yellowknife on my own this weekend from Suffield. As a visitor to Canada living in AB, I'm hoping to experience some different sights on a tight budget. Looking at the current forecast am I likely to be able to see the northern lights? What else would you recommend to do with 24 hours in town?

Also, my block heater's playing up. Is it critical at this time of year?
